We hear the phrase self-care isnāt selfish a lot these days. Itās true. Self-care is about knowing and honouring what to do to take care of ourselves. When we feel nourished, we feel ready to continue being in flow with daily life. To be of service to others, we first need to ensure we can serve from an expanded and heart-filled space as opposed to a run-down, tired, and pushing on type of attitude. Our body is great at giving us clues about when it is time to slow down. If we donāt listen, over time our health can be impacted through burn-out where the body quite literally makes us stop.
Although it might sound strange, self-care is something we must actively plan. It is a choice to schedule and take time to nurture ourselves. Self-care doesnāt have to be massages and bubble baths (although theyāre both great!). Self-care can look like not checking emails or social media after a certain time, spending time in a cosy spot with a hot drink just letting yourself rest as opposed to tuning out in front of the tv. Choosing to be present while participating in self-care helps shift our state of mind and raise our energetic vibration to restore balance to our mind, body, and soul.
Take some time now to schedule and plan your self-care. What can you do this coming week, perhaps even for the month ahead, to nurture your mind, body, and soul?
