Jade’s cultural background is Australian, with Scottish, German, and English ancestry. In her teaching career, she worked as an English language teacher and understands the significance of language and its connection to culture, as well as its impact on one’s well-being. The creation of this Code of Ethics represents Green Heart Healing Space’s commitment to delivering professional services to all clients with integrity and respect. This includes adhering to the Australian Natural Therapists Association Code of Ethics and Scope and Standards of Practice, the Reiki Australia Code of Ethics, and the National Code of Conduct for Healthcare Workers (Queensland).
Terms Defined:
Client/student: Any person who engages in a treatment, consultation, course, mentoring session or other paid service offered by Green Heart Healing Space.
Healing, as defined by Reiki Australia, refers to the concept of making ‘whole’ and incorporates aspects of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. The healing process is not focused on curing, which commonly implies relief from the physical or total absence of disease.
Informed Consent: The client’s right to self-decision can only be effectively exercised if they possess enough information to make an informed choice. The practitioner’s obligation is to present facts accurately to the client and make recommendations in accordance with good professional practice. The practitioner has an ethical duty to assist the client in choosing therapeutic alternatives consistent with good practice.
Integrity: The practice of being honest and consistently adhering to strong moral and ethical principles.
Massage Therapy: Massage therapy involves kneading or manipulating a person’s muscles and other soft tissues to enhance their well-being and health. It is a manual therapy that includes holding, moving, and applying pressure to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.
Reiki: Reiki is a spiritual practice and healing modality. The English meaning of the Japanese name for the practice is commonly translated as Universal Life Energy or Universal Life Force.
How this is applied at Green Heart Healing Space:
Jade approaches Reiki as a spiritual practice that can include meditation, the Reiki precepts, self-practice, hands-on treatment and working with the Japanese concept of Ki. There is no particular experience a client or student is expected to have, and Jade does not prescribe what an experience of Reiki should mean.
Reiki Master: A person who has completed master training and teaches in their chosen form of Reiki.
Reiki Practitioner: The Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit for the energy known as Reiki.
How this is understood at Green Heart Healing Space:
Jade does not understand the practitioner as the source of another person’s healing or personal power. Reiki is offered without prescribing what the client should feel or experience, and each person’s experience of a Reiki treatment or practice remains their own.
Flower Essence Therapy: Flower Essences are produced by imprinting a flower’s unique vibrational healing signature onto a carrier solution and are used to treat imbalances at a deeper level, promoting emotional and spiritual balance and well-being in the whole person.
How this is applied at Green Heart Healing Space:
At Green Heart Healing Space, Flower Essence Therapy is offered as a complementary practice to explore emotional themes and support personal reflection and well-being. Jade works collaboratively with you when selecting essences and may discuss the emotional qualities traditionally associated with individual flowers. Flower Essences are not used to diagnose or treat medical or psychological conditions or as a replacement for appropriate healthcare.
An Intuitive Intelligence® Trainer is qualified to support you in meeting and releasing your subconscious fear programs, which will activate your superconscious intuition. As defined by the Institute for Intuitive Intelligence. Intuitive Intelligence® Teacher is certified to teach the theory and practice of Intuitive Intelligence®.
How this is applied at Green Heart Healing Space:
At Green Heart Healing Space, Intuitive Intelligence® is taught as a framework for exploring and developing your relationship with your own intuition. Jade may offer practices, questions, reflections and intuitive perspectives, but these are invitations for you to explore rather than definitive interpretations of your experience. You are encouraged to use your own discernment and decide what feels meaningful and relevant to you.
An Intuitive Energetics Practitioner is qualified to identify and clear subconscious patterns and programs from a client’s subtle anatomy (energy body). They assist in moving stuck energy, low-frequency thought forms and negative self-beliefs, often at the centre of creating disharmony in their client’s energy fields and lives. As defined by the School for Metaphysical Practice.
How this is applied at Green Heart Healing Space:
At Green Heart Healing Space, Intuitive Energetics is offered within a spiritual and energetic framework. Jade may use intuitive guidance, energy-based practices, imagery, grounding and reflection to explore what you are experiencing. Any intuitive information offered is a perspective to consider rather than an absolute interpretation or diagnosis. Your experience, beliefs and understanding remain your own.
WORKING WITH CLIENTS AND STUDENTS
For the purposes of this Code, references to a client also include students participating in Green Heart Healing Space courses, training and mentoring where applicable.
PRACTITIONER AND THE CLIENT
Client Care
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Practise only the modalities in which a qualification is held and only to the scope of their qualification.
· Do no harm; the practitioner shall do nothing that will physically or emotionally injure the client. Provide services with appropriate care and with regard for the client’s physical and emotional safety.
· Practice according to the principle of informed consent.
· Explain the nature of the service being offered and seek appropriate consent before commencing treatment or introducing a different practice or modality.
· Respect the client’s right to ask questions, decline any part of a session, change their mind or withdraw consent at any time.
· Explain the nature of hands-on treatment where relevant and respect the client’s preferences and boundaries around touch. Consent may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
Patient Records
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Maintain client confidentiality with exceptions that include explicit consent from the client or are required by law.
· Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date client records.
· Ensure security of storage, access, and utilisation of client information.
Practitioner – Client Relationship
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Recognise that a therapeutic relationship between practitioner and client is respected.
· Refrain from engaging in sexual or romantic activity with the client.
· Respect a client’s individual needs, values, and culture.
· Offer intuitive guidance as a perspective for the client to consider rather than as absolute fact or authority.
· Respect the client’s own interpretation of their experiences and refrain from telling a client what they must feel, believe or understand from a Reiki, energy healing or intuitive experience.
· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and avoid exploiting the practitioner–client or teacher–student relationship for personal, financial, emotional or other gain.
Financial Considerations
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Place an appropriate value on professional services when determining any fee.
· Ensure a current fee schedule is displayed in the clinic and on the website to ensure clients know relevant fees where possible.
PRACTITIONER AND THE PROFESSION
Professional Conduct
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Build a professional reputation based on integrity and ability.
· Acknowledge lineage, teachers, and trainers.
· Maintain a safe and hygienic clinic environment, including infection control standards.
· Remain up to date on relevant professional knowledge, codes of professional practice and legal responsibilities.
· Meet the required number of hours for professional development as per professional membership requirements.
Referral to Other Health Service Professionals
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Refer a client to another health service professional when it is believed that the client will benefit.
· Recognise and respect the roles and expertise of other healthcare providers in the provision of client care.
· Recognise their scope of practice and make appropriate recommendations or referrals to the broader health care system in their client’s best interest. Recommend or refer clients to an appropriately qualified health professional when their needs fall outside of their scope of practice.
· Recognise the limits of Jade’s qualifications and scope of practice and not diagnose medical or psychological conditions or represent complementary practices as a replacement for appropriate medical, psychological or other healthcare.
ADVERTISING
Green Heart Healing Space shall:
· Adhere to all relevant federal and state legislation advertising codes.
· Not bring the profession into disrepute.
· Advertise professional services in a manner that contains information reasonably needed for clients to make informed decisions about the services’ appropriateness.
Complaints and Concerns
Green Heart Healing Space welcomes clients raising questions or concerns directly with Jade and will endeavour to respond respectfully and appropriately.
Clients may also make a complaint to the Office of the Health Ombudsman regarding health services covered by the National Code of Conduct for Health Care Workers (Queensland). Information about the National Code and how to make a complaint is available at the clinic, through Queensland Health, and through the Office of the Health Ombudsman.
